Your data
Delete your account
My Whiskey Shelf · Last updated: 1 September 2026
You can delete your account from inside the app. No email, no asking us first.
From the app
- Open My Whiskey Shelf.
- Tap your profile, top right.
- Scroll to Delete account.
- Confirm twice. This cannot be undone.
What gets deleted
Your sign-in is one login across My Bar Shelf, My Whiskey Shelf, My Wine Shelf, My Beer Shelf, My Cigar Shelf, My Coffee Shelf and My Supply Shelf. Your whiskey records are not shared with any of those, with one exception, the bottle inventory, which is named below. When you confirm:
- Your bottles are removed from the shared inventory, so they also disappear from My Bar Shelf.
- Your collection details and pour log go with them: distillery, cask, ratings, tasting notes.
- Your shopping list, your accessories and your barcode contributions are removed.
- Your profile record is removed, including your analytics consent setting. That row is the one My Bar Shelf, My Wine Shelf, My Beer Shelf and My Cigar Shelf share, so your recorded answer for those goes too and any of them will ask you again.
- Your sign-in is deleted too, unless you have data in another Shelf app. Then the account stays and only the shelf data above is removed.
If you use other Shelf apps, delete your data there first, then come back here. Or write to us and we will do it.
How long it takes
Immediately. It runs when you confirm, and you are signed out as soon as it finishes. Deleted rows can remain in our database provider’s routine backups for a short period until those backups age out. We are not going to quote a number for that, because it depends on our provider’s schedule rather than on us.
What survives, and how to get rid of it
Saying “nothing” here would be easier and it would not be true. Five things outlive the deletion:
- The AI scan ledger, if your sign-in is kept. One row per scan, holding your account identifier, which Shelf app ran it, the kind of scan and the time. It goes when the sign-in record goes, so if the sign-in stays because another Shelf app holds your data, the ledger stays with it. An earlier version of this page counted four survivors and left this one out.
- Any data export you asked for. Pressing Export writes a file holding your email address, your whole shelf and every pour with its notes. Nothing deletes that file today. Write to us and we will remove it.
- Analytics already sent. If you turned analytics on, events already recorded stay with our analytics provider. They are keyed to your account identifier, so we can have them removed on request.
- Your subscription record. Held by RevenueCat and by the app store that issued the receipt, because that is the billing history.
- Crash reports. They are not filed under your account, so there is no reliable way to find yours. Tell us roughly when a crash happened and we will look.
For any of these, write to hello@mywhiskeyshelf.com and we will remove by hand what the button does not. The privacy policy sets all of this out in full.
If you cannot reach the app
Write to hello@mywhiskeyshelf.com from the address on the account. We will ask you to confirm once, then delete it.
What changed on this page
Updated 1 September 2026, alongside version 2.1 of the privacy policy. The previous version said your account was “shared across the Shelf family” without saying what that meant, which reads as though your whiskey records were shared too. The sign-in is shared and the records are not, apart from the bottle inventory, and the list above now names the apps and the exception. It also counted four things that outlive the deletion and left out the AI scan ledger, and it did not mention that the profile record it removes carries the analytics answer four other Shelf apps read.
